Spend 10 nights in Italy, hike the Cinque Terre, enjoy wine tastings, tour some of Tuscany’s most beautiful hill towns, and enjoy gourmet Italian meals.
Cortona
You will start your Italy stay with 7 nights in Cortona, a lovely Tuscan hill town with panoramic views of the Val di Chiana, Mount Sant’Egidio and the Lake Trasimeno. You will be a very short walk from the historical center of Cortona where you can spend time shopping, eating, drinking and mixing with the local community.
Your stay in Cortona will include winery tours and tastings, a gourmet welcome dinner, olive grove tour with oil tasting, tours to other nearby hill towns, a walking tour of historical Cortona, breakfast daily and a very special Wine, Shine and Dine event complete with live entertainment.
In addition, you will have plenty of free time to explore on your own or visit nearby sites such as Le Celle which is the Franciscan hermitage, area churches filled with beautiful works of art, the Etruscan tombs, the Diocesan Museum, and the Etruscan Academy Museum.
Santa Margherita
Next you will move on for a 3 night stay on the Italian Riviera in beautiful Santa Margherita Ligure. Your hotel features a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean sea and is within walking distance of all the city has to offer. And, Santa Margherita shares a walkway with Portofino, one of Italy’s most glamorous ports that is home to classy boats and impressive yachts. We will walk to Portofino, but you can take a bus or ferry for a very small fee. You will find excellent shopping and world class dining in Portofino.
While on the Italian Riviera you will have the chance to hike the Sentiero Azzuro cliffside hiking trails. The trails link the villages of the Cinque Terre and offer sweeping views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Areas of this hike are moderate to hard in difficulty so you will have the choice of traveling village to village by trail, train, or a combination of the two. However you choose to do it, you will enjoy an amazing day on this lovely stretch of the coast.
Our last group event will be a cozy dinner at a a lovely restaurant in the heart of Santa Margherita. This is is your chance to reminisce about the trip and say your good-byes.
